Apparently, they will remake anything. Exhibit 3213-A, the forthcoming Toxic Avenger remake. But how can you do a film with better productions values than the original? See for yourself: (more…)

The best of all bad movie worlds – A SyFy Channel Original and a Production from our favorite movie studio, the Asylum. Mega Piranha debuts Saturday at 9 o’clock Eastern Standard Time. Be there!
Chris Evans, one of my least favorite actors (see Fantastic Four, Push, or Sunshine for reasons why) has officially been cast in the forthcoming, big-screen adaptation of comic book hero Captain America. In a word: Ugh. Of course, it cannot be worse than any of the previous attempts to put Captain America on screen, can it? Well . . . . . . see for yourself. (more…)
The Expendables is Summer’s action movie with the surplus of action movie stars who had to carpool to the studio and ended up in the same picture. The cast includes (including cameos): Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Charisma Carpenter, the late Brittany Murphy, David Zayas and Amin Joseph.
Those who do not remember cinema’s past are doomed to repeat it. According to this very entertaining article, doomed we are indeed. I weep for the screenwriter penning an daring, bold, and fresh story never before placed on screen previously. In the meantime, Flash Gordon, Dune, Short Circuit, Teen Wolf, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Monster Squad, Police Academy, and Ghostbusters are all coming back, like it or not.
One reason I’m glad I don’t have kids, the Marmaduke movie coming soon. Behold the horror: (more…)
The Predator is being re-rebooted, based on this trailer it looks like it might be cool:

I bet reading the title of this post you wondered to yourself, what kind of person would be so excited about this that they would put an exclamation point at the end? The answer is anyone who has been attending popular cinema over the last 10 years (and assorted nerds such as myself). The BBC Reports that filming will begin in July in New Zealand with Guillermo del Toro directing, Peter Jackson producing, and Sir Ian McKellan reprising his role as Gandalf the Grey. The only real news for those who have been following this is that a date has been set for filming to begin, however it does make one wonder
For lovers of cheesy low-budget flicks, the SyFy Channel is debuting Dinoshark tonight at 9 pm Eastern. Trailer below: (more…)
I know a lot of folks don’t care about Tom Cruise because . . . well, you know, the craziness thing, but I really liked number three guided by J.J. Abrams (Alias, Lost, Star Trek [2009]). And it looks like J.J. is back for # 4, yes, with Cruise. Abrams says: “We have a really cool idea that we’re playing with and I’m looking forward to that coming to pass . . . [T]here definitely will be a European presence but there’s a whole crazy story, it’s definitely a jet setting movie.” Sweet!
. . . Free Willy: Escape From Pirate’s Cove! Within a month of the incident where a female Sea World trainer was drowned by a Killer Whale, a new Free Willy movie comes out: (more…)
