Goodbye, Film Is Pwn; Hello, SnarkCriticPop.com

Not unlike those Transmorphers from the classic Asylum film Transmorphers, Film is Pwn is transmorphering.  We will be gradually moving everything over to a new site that is already partially up and running, SnarkCriticPop.com.  We’re expanding our focus from not just film to anything entertainment and pop culture.  Join us, won’t you?

Odds are you will not be seeing any new updates here, all new blog posts will be at SnarkCriticPop.com.   Hopefully in a day or two I’ll have my thoughts up at SnarkCriticPop.com on the Asylum’s most awesomest movie ever, Mega Piranha.

Toxic Avenger Remake

Apparently, they will remake anything.  Exhibit 3213-A, the forthcoming Toxic Avenger remake.  But how can you do a film with better productions values than the original?  See for yourself: (more…)

Hobbit To Begin Filming in July!

Ian Mckellan as Gandalf in LOTR

I bet reading the title of this post you wondered to yourself, what kind of person would be so excited about this that they would put an exclamation point at the end? The answer is anyone who has been attending popular cinema over the last 10 years (and assorted nerds such as myself). The BBC Reports that filming will begin in July in New Zealand with Guillermo del Toro directing, Peter Jackson producing, and Sir Ian McKellan reprising his role as Gandalf the Grey. The only real news for those who have been following this is that a date has been set for filming to begin, however it does make one wonder

R.I.P. Peter Graves (1925-2010)

Actor Peter Graves past away earlier today, see the CNN article here.  Peter Graves is probably best known for his role on the TV show Mission: Impossible and as the host of Biography.  My fondest memories of Graves are from entertaining B-movies like The Beginning of the End, It Conquered The World, and Killers From Space that appeared on Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Killers From Space was actually not released under the MST3K banner, but that’s another story).

Graves was a fine actor and was quite memorable as the pilot from the spoofest Airplane!  “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?” (more…)

Lindsay Lohan Sues E*trade for $100,000,000

Why, apparently she believes one of their commercials featuring a baby named “Lindsay” who is called a “Milk-a-holic” is libel and everyone thinks of Lindsay Lohan when they hear the name “Lindsay.”  Huh.  The funny thing is, most folks didn’t associate the ad with Lindsay Lohan’s lamentable personal problems . . . until now. For that matter, most of us forgot about this little Superbowl commercial and put it out of our minds . . . until now. The article is here.  Click more if you’d like to see the SHOCKING commercial that has spawned a lawsuit that I truly hope will get laughed out of court very quickly: (more…)

James Cameron Working On An Avatar Novel

James Cameron is working on a prequel to Avatar, his insanely successful blockbuster.  Fortunately, this prequel is going to be a NOVEL.  So none of those distracting visuals just the story, and characters, and . . . uh . . . here’s hoping the cover is pretty.  See the article here.

Wesley Snipes Wants to Do Blade 4

Wesley Snipes says he’d do Blade 4 if the script was right.  In related news, Wesley Snipes is one bad film away personal appearances at birthday parties or — dare I say it? — an Asylum movie.  Insert your own joke here.

A Bad Month For Kevin Smith

Filed under:Upcoming Movies, news — posted by Daniel Roos on February 15, 2010 @ 5:33 pm

You might think I’m referring to the fact that the writer/director/actor Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, etc.) was recently kicked off an airplane for being too overweight.  But I’m not.  I’m referring to the fact that onetime indy film auteur’s latest film is the ultimate in bland, generic, buddy cop comedy Cop Out starring Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan. Poor, poor Kevin Smith: (more…)

Christopher Nolan Doing Superman?

My favorite director, Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestiege, The Dark Knight, etc.) has reportedly been brought in to oversee (not direct) another Superman reboot, while he’s still working on the third Batman film.  See the article from Deadline Hollywood here.  Nothing but good news, if you ask me.
