Big Budget Berenststain Bears Movie? Booya!
Last week we mentioned the live action/CGI feature film adaptation of bear icon Yogi Bear, and now we have news from USA Today that Shawn Levy, who directed those Night at the Museum films I never saw, is producing a live action/CGI movie about the Berenstain Bears.
After a century of relegating bears to bit players in Robert Redford films and being killed off by elderly Anthony Hopkins, Hollywood is finally heeding my cry for big movies starring my kin, the Bear. Now that these two bear icons are going to be brought to the screen, perhaps someone will finally make a movie about a giant bear that destroys Tokyo and/or New York.

I have a daughter who loves the Berenstain Bears and I can honestly say that regardless of any general feelings I might have for bears, I HATE the Berenstain Bears, oh how I hate them.

You were named after your heart, Stone — that’s all I gotta say.

Whn does the Smokey the Bear movie come out? Someone in California has to think a $100 mil budget film about a bear trying to stop forest fires is a good idea at this point, right?
