Déjà vu (2006)
It’s strange, because I’m reasonably sure I haven’t seen this movie before . . .

If you thought that Speed Racer had too much plot and character development and not nearly enough racing or shamelessly showcased female breasts, Redline is the movie for you!

Okay, I finally got around to seeing Speed Racer, and I must admit I liked it.

Paul Newman, a great actor and a great humanitarian, passed away on Saturday. I’ll remember Newman most for his roles opposite Robert Redford like the Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Read Newman’s CNN obit here:

Ah, Congo, the big budget Hollywood movie that looks like a Sci-Fi Channel original with too much cash.

Under Suspicion is a tense, small-scale movie drama, not surprisingly adapted from a play considering the small number of locales and characters are involved. The primary appeal in the movie is to see two titans in Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman going head to head with above average material.

Of all the film’s Tom Stephens and I watched during the now infamous ten movie marathon — where we consecutively watched the ten most critically maligned movies from rottentomatoes.com — one stands out above the others.

I realize my blogs over the past few months have been a little biased, and I’m going to correct that.

As referenced in my post a few weeks ago, “I Survived the Film Is Pwn Marathon,” Tom and I recently watched the 10 lowest rated movies according to rottentomatoes.com in succession in one day. It took about 16 hours in all, and we laughed, we cried (as you’ll witness), we screamed, and we’re still not exactly sure why we did it.
I just finished editing the first half of the ordeal (expect part 2 sometime next week), and here it is for your viewing pleasure. The movies we watched were:
10. Steven Seagal’s Half Past Dead
9. Dana Carvey’s unfunny comedy The Master of Disguise
8. Ashley Judd & Samuel L. Jackson ruin their credibility in Twisted
7. National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers – the worst movie ever made, and I’ve seen Plan 9 From Outer Space AND Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace
6. Superbabies: Baby Genuises 2 – the title says it all
Watch us watch them, and enjoy our pain:
There have been plenty of movies that have seriously dealt with terrorism in the post 9/11 world, but this is the first one to my knowledge that has its hero being a devout, peaceful Muslim.

Armed with nothing but the lowest of expectations (and I mean lowest) and a fondness for old, school anime I subjected myself to Wachowski Brothers Technicolor dream-coat, knowing all to well that everyone hated it and it flopped on the big screen. As a movie snob I thought I knew I would hate it, turn it off after twenty minutes set my DVD player on fire.
Only one problem.
I have to admit it, I kind of liked it.
(Let the ridicule begin.)
